Jason McCrorie spent a week in Munich with Audi's upcoming line-up. He drove the all-new Q7, got a first look at the Q9 and A2 e-tron, and rode a hot lap in the Audi Nuvolari prototype.
What a time to be with Audi! After spending a week in Munich at the Audi CLX (Central Launch Experience), it is hard not to be excited about the new product line-up Audi has to offer in the coming years.
We had the opportunity to spend some time exploring the all-new Q7, a ground-up new car offering fantastic space, premium materials and some new optional equipment never before seen in an Audi. The new Bang & Olufsen 4D sound with Seatbeat was quite the experience. The car was incredibly comfortable at Autobahn speeds and gave great confidence in the corners on the back roads.
The new Q9 will offer a larger seven-seat option to the Audi portfolio. The all-new A2 e-tron will bring a brilliant mid-size, entry-point electric car to the Audi range, with an attractive package, cool design accents and practicality. The design is a nod to the A2 of the ’90s, with a very low drag coefficient, meaning more range. The new A6 allroad was impressive, with aggressive wheel arches, wheel combinations and interior fitment.
A true highlight was the opportunity to see the Audi Nuvolari, a high-end supercar that Audi has plans to put into production in the very near future. We were given a tour of one of the two prototypes, which highlighted the incredible build quality and material finish on this special car. Everything had a purpose and was made from aluminium, leather, Dinamica or carbon fibre. We were then treated to a hot lap around the Audi Sport test circuit with the head test driver. A real “pinch-me” moment. A quick tour of the F1 and Customer Racing buildings rounded out the trip nicely.
