Continental Cars were proud to again sponsor the War Donkey Golf tournament. The annual tournament, held at Whitford Golf Club raised important funds for the Niki Dow Scholarship.
The Niki Dow Charitable Trust was established in the loving memory of Niki Dow, who was tragically killed in a car accident in Portugal on August 31st 2013 while doing his OE at a vineyard there, aged 23. Niki was a humble, quick-witted and compassionate young man who followed his dream as a cellar hand to many vineyards all over the world. His high-octane energy, coupled with his innate gift for winemaking made him one of a kind in his industry. His personality and commitment to his friends and others were such that he was nicknamed “The War Donkey” – a name known extensively from the days of WW1.
The initiative behind the trust is to provide a student that shares the same passion and talent for viticulture, the opportunity to receive a financial scholarship to fund their Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Lincoln. Support will also include funding other sporting and educational charitable activities.
The trust has already sponsored Katrina Jackson of Tauranga through her degree at Lincoln University beginning in 2014, and are now onto our second recipient Inga Burton. This support for Inga and other local initiatives we support in East Auckland is greatly appreciated and one we know is making a difference. Learn more.
